Lesson 4 - Theology: Who Is God?
Introduction
This session turns to theology and the question of who God is. It presents this as the most important foundation, because understanding God shapes how everything else is understood.
Knowing God is presented as the highest pursuit, since without that knowledge, neither self-understanding nor purpose can be fully realized.
Themes
Knowing God is central to the meaning of life. At the same time, understanding His nature and character is beyond human ability apart from His revelation. Without that revelation, attempts to define God remain incomplete.
This session establishes two foundational points: that God exists, and that His Word is reliable. It also addresses objections that have been raised against Scripture and presents responses to those challenges.
Understanding God includes recognizing both His mercy and His authority. As this understanding grows, it reveals truth about ourselves and leads to a renewed identity and purpose. This results in transformation.
Key Observations
-
This session emphasizes that people often resist truth, not because it is unclear, but because of its implications.
-
There is a tendency to reinterpret or dismiss what challenges personal beliefs.
-
You are challenged to consider whether you are willing to align your thinking with truth.
